Each qualification has a Record of Practical Experience and Service (ROPES) book that youe supervisor signs to show you are able to work confidently. Your qualified assessor needs this information to grade you as Competent.

This booklet records your seatime and experience as a deckhand aboard a passenger or cargo vessel and is signed off by your skipper or supervisor as you work toward a coxswain licence

If you are using the ABM as a resource, you should follow this learning guide. It gives the pages to read followed by the test questions. If you are able to understand all the reading material and answer the test questions, you should be able to gain a competent grade in the unit.
